A musical odyssey in search of a paradise lost
‘She woke up in a garden but her name was not Eve’
Scottish born urban folk blues jazz singer songwriter Isabella Miller Bell Aka Ma Bell brings her famous travelling pop up acoustic cabaret to the Isaac Theatre Royal for the final show of the 2017 Christchurch Pop Up Concert Series - a 6 year artist led music project that has been touring Canterbury and the South since 2012.
Ma Bell introduces the infamous Madame Tragèdie, an ancient traveler, a story teller with a hat full of lotions, potions and wild notions on a musical odyssey in search of a paradise lost. Her travel companions feature a collection of superb musician/composers/performance artists of our time including Jon Maxim Hooker & James Wilkinson, John Bevin, Harry Harrison and Justine S of Radius with special ‘pop in’ guest appearances.
Madame Tragèdie & Accomplices tell the story of the blues at the cabaret of life in a musical landscape of original composition jazz & blues mingled with low Glaswegian banter and highbrow art music.
From birth to death and all the juicy bits in between, no stone left unturned.
DON’T MISS IT – IT’S THE ONLY SHOW IN TOWN
Review: “When the magnificent Isabella Miller Bell strutted onto stage with whip and wine in hand it was clearly show time and what a show Ma Bell and her wonderful band of troubadours delivered”. (Shelley Topp N. Canterbury News 2016)
