A sprinkling of festive fun for everyone.

AN END OF YEAR TREAT FROM THE ROYAL NEW ZEALAND BALLET

Fun for the whole family, the Royal New Zealand Ballet’s version of The Nutcracker takes the Christmas classic and adds a twist. Based on one of the world’s most-loved ballets, this colourful and fun version is a sprinkling of festive fun for everyone.

Nutcracker2010“It’s a wild adventure set to Tchaikovsky’s fabulous and timeless score,” Choreographer and RNZB’s Artistic Director, Gary Harris.

The adventure begins on Christmas morning when Clara’s rat-bag brother, Fritz, clouts her over the head with her beloved nutcracker doll. Delirious with concussion, Clara is rushed to hospital where she enters a fantasy world brought to life by Kristian Fredrikson’s eye-popping, bold designs inspired by Hollywood’s big studio era.
