Tiki Taane Mahuta

May 7–9, 2015

ITR Auditorium

Tiki Taane Mahuta combines two of our nation’s most exciting musical and theatrical artists; musician and composer Tiki Taane and choreographer Tanemahuta Gray (Māui – One Man Against The Gods), in an explosion of Aerial Theatre and Contemporary Dance, fused with Haka and Hip-Hop.

In a whirlwind of visual imagery, aerial wizardry, and a scintillating soundtrack, this explosive performance is a multi-sensory and highly emotive experience for audiences young and old.

Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu season of Tiki Taane Mahuta in association with Fendalton Capital is on at the Isaac Theatre Royal from 7-9 May for 4 performances only.

Tiki Taane Mahuta is a story about love and tragic loss. When a fatal car crash takes away the love of Karen’s life, and the father of her unborn child, it is up to the next generation to repair the rift between broken families. Karen’s son, guided by his father’s ancestral line, is able to forge a path of forgiveness. Tatau pounamu. A gift of reconciliation and new beginnings.

Aotearoa Aerial Theatre Company is proud to present the world premiere of Tiki Taane Mahuta in O-Tautahi, Christchurch - a city that knows all too well the unseen forces, unknown strength, and the rallying of community to survive and heal after great tragedy.

O-Tautahi Maraka Maraka!
