Seventies British music sensation Tony Christie is the latest big name music act confirmed to play a Christchurch concert this summer. He performs at the Theatre Royal 8pm on Friday 2 March.
Christie sold more than 10 million records in the 1970s and was a sought after guest on nearly every major TV show across Europe and the UK. He continues to be in strong demand around the world performing his string of well known chart toppers and retaining a strong fan base in New Zealand.
Tony Christie songs have always been popular in New Zealand where smash hits - such as Amarillo, I Did What I Did For Maria, Las Vegas and Avenues and Alleyways - are guaranteed to make appearances at any New Zealand party. Other well known Christie hits include Happy Birthday Baby, The Most Beautiful Girl, Don't go down to Reno, and Solitaire.
Fans at Tony Christie's concert next month are in for an extra treat.
"Appearing on the same bill is enduring American group, The Drifters, famous for hits like Under the Boardwalk, Saturday Night at the Movies, Like Sister and Brother and Kissing in the Back Row of the Movies.
