A Celtic Christmas

Kia ora,

Due to New Zealand’s most recent COVID restrictions, ‘A Celtic Christmas’ 2021 New Zealand Tour has been postponed until 2022. At present, the indoor event capacity is limited, and with many of our audiences sitting above this quota, we have worked tirelessly to reschedule our New Zealand tour dates in order to provide the best and safest experience for all our venues, patrons and team.

All tickets will be honoured for the rescheduled date as follows:

Saturday 26th November 2022 – Isaac Theatre Royal Christchurch

What if I can’t attend the new date?
Whilst Ticketek, the venues & Pace Live understand that this is a difficult time for many, they encourage you to hold onto your ticket to support the artist and the Live Entertainment industry. All tickets purchased for the original date are valid for the new date. If you are unable to attend the new date you can request a full refund no later than November 17th, 2021.
Please email your refund request to online@ticketek.co.nz quoting your Ticketek transaction or account number. If your original ticket purchase was via credit card, and that card has subsequently been cancelled or has expired, please include your bank account details for us to process your refund to. Please note for PCI compliance reasons we cannot accept credit card details via email.

Please only provide bank details, or request a call back to provide credit card details. Please note there is a delay in response times
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the wonderful venue & Ticketek staff who have worked around the clock to make the postponement of our tour possible as well as all of our patrons for their ongoing support throughout and post the pandemic environment.
Whilst this is certainly not an ideal situation – the show must go on! And we have no doubt that when it does, it will be well worth the wait.

Slainte,
Pace Live

Reb Fountain - IRIS New Zealand Tour

Kia ora,

Please read the message below from Reb.

We’re in this together folks.

I LOVE live music; performing, the mosh pits, the eclectic venues, the camaraderie, the transformative experience WE share when we come together. The band and I can’t wait to bring IRIS to you all – in order to do that large events have to be viable and your safety and wellbeing has got to be at the fore . . . so we’re moving our album release tour to February 2022.

All tickets will remain valid and the good news is further seats have opened up so don’t despair it’s not sold out quite yet. I love you and miss you and am so looking forward to seeing you there.

I don’t want you to miss out on live entertainment. But more importantly I want you and your loved ones to live. You will most likely need to be vaccinated to be part of the audience for these shows (official exemptions accepted) so please for the sake of yourselves and one another #vaxforlive.

Stay safe.

RNZB - A Midsummer Night's Dream

Kia ora,

We must regretfully confirm the cancellation of the Royal New Zealand Ballet’s performance/s of A Midsummer Night’s Dream due to take place on:

18th November 7.30pm

19th November 7.30pm

20th November 1.30pm

20th November 7.30pm

The Royal New Zealand Ballet is so disappointed not to be able to perform for you, but the dancers and crew are looking forward to returning to CITY in 2022 and hopes very much that you will be in the audience. Details of the company’s 2022 season can be found here

We will shortly begin the process of refunding all ticket holders. If you have purchased tickets that have now been passed on to family or friends, we would be grateful if you could advise them of this cancellation.

A note from the Royal New Zealand Ballet:

Everyone working in the arts, including our dancers and production crew, are enormously affected by Covid-19 restrictions. Compared to many of our colleagues overseas we have been very lucky, but at time of writing, we have had 24 performances cancelled this year. The financial losses experienced affect not only the Royal New Zealand Ballet but also the venues in which we perform, the local crew that we contract, and the local accommodation providers and other businesses that we work with in your community. Our education, community and accessibility programme is also curtailed with events including our workshops in prisons, open classes for young dancers and workshops in schools no longer able to go ahead.

Offering streamed performances and other events online has proved very successful, but for our artists and crew, nothing will ever come close to performing live.

To help us recover some of our losses experienced by cancelling this national tour we would appreciate it if you could consider making a donation to the RNZB in support of future performances and events in your community.

Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story

Kia Ora,

With great disappointment, Showbiz Christchurch has announced the cancellation of their forthcoming production of Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story from Sept 22 to Oct 2, 2022 at the Isaac Theatre Royal.

In order for the production to go ahead, Christchurch must be in Covid Level 1. At this point, the Producers are not confident enough that this will be the case in time, nor do they have the ability to move the show to alternative dates later this year.

This is extremely disappointing for all the cast, crew and creative team involved in the show who have worked so hard to get the show on stage.

All ticket holders will be refunded in full, and once ticket sales open for their next planned production (Matilda in April 2022), all purchasers will be offered an exclusive presale for that season. We hope for this to be available in early October.

Tickets purchased online by credit or debit card (including Afterpay) will be refunded in full (including ticket insurance premium, if relevant).

Patrons should allow up to 30 working days for the refund to appear in their account. There is no need to contact us. If your credit or debit card has been permanently closed/cancelled or the card has expired, please supply us with updated bank details here in order to process your refund.

Patrons who purchased tickets at an Agency will receive a full refund to a bank account, upon the provision of bank account details. You can provide these details here.

Please note for PCI compliance reasons we cannot accept credit card details via email. Please only provide bank details, or request a call back to provide credit card details. Please note there is a delay in response times.

Your continued support and understanding is appreciated.

The Firebird with Paquita

Following the extension of Level 3 Covid-19 restrictions, the Royal New Zealand Ballet has decided, with regret, to cancel the performances of The Firebird with Paquita originally scheduled for 26, 27 and 28 August at the Isaac Theatre Royal, Christchurch.

In line with the RNZB’s Covid-19 ticketing policy, all ticket holders will be entitled to a full refund. Ticket holders will be contacted by the agency who issued their tickets, either the Royal New Zealand Ballet, or Ticketek, with further information regarding this process.

The RNZB’s production of The Firebird is currently available to purchase and view on demand via Tikstream. The company will shortly be announcing details of an on-demand broadcast of Paquita.

The RNZB is committed to ensuring the continued health and well-being of all audience members, artists and staff. While the company is deeply disappointed by these cancellations, supporting our community’s journey towards the lifting of restrictions and the resumption of live events, once it is safe to do so, is our greatest priority.

The RNZB looks forward to continuing to entertain audiences in Aotearoa and overseas via our digital programme, and to returning to stages with The Ryman Healthcare Season of A Midsummer Night’s Dream from the end of October.

ITR Media Release: COVID 19 Update - 24/08/21

Kia ora,

I hope you are all safe and well during these challenging times.

Firstly, thank you to all the frontline workers who are doing an amazing job in such difficult circumstances…

As you would be aware, due to government decisions surrounding COVID-19, the Isaac Theatre Royal has been closed and will experience further disruptions to operations and events until alert levels lift. Our primary concern is for the health of our community. When we are permitted to present live events and bring our community together again, we can’t wait to host you.

It has been a challenging time in the arts and live events, but the Isaac Theatre Royal has done everything imaginable to navigate the winds of Covid-19. We have reimagined venue spaces, created new events, curated a festival, presented the world’s largest  Pantomime in December 2020. We have created workshops for children, promoted concerts, presented theatre productions and delivered the Ghostlight film series.

We will continue to find innovative and creative ways to bring our community together when permitted as we continue to transition from simply a theatre for hire to a leader in the arts and live events developing and curating important creative and business content. We will continue to develop important opportunities to connect, tell our stories, challenge what is possible and provide opportunities in education, business, performance, reflection, joy and wonderment.

Theatres and events are important to the liveability of their cities and the quality of life of their communities. The Isaac Theatre Royal supports community resilience through innovation, imagination, visitation, the promotion of the arts, promotion of the city and making events happen. Indeed, we have reimagined venue spaces, created events and developed opportunities for our community in business, education and the arts.

We are passionate about the arts, live music and events. Indeed, the ITR has continued to provide strong support for our industry and our community through COVID-19. This includes; being innovative, creative and agile.

As an independent theatre, managed by a charitable foundation on behalf of the people of Canterbury, the Isaac Theatre Royal, one of the most spectacular and prestigious theatres in Australasia, has worked extremely hard over the last 12 months to position itself to navigate these challenges. Despite this, having closures and lockdowns severely hurts the operations of the theatre.

Our main priorities are the positive impacts the theatre has on our community and the welfare of people in our industry. We care about and support our community, the arts and the live events industry.

At 110,000 visitors per year. The Isaac Theatre Royal creates over 5,000 jobs and injects over $7 Million into the local economy per year. Achieving our goals and supporting community resilience requires on-going support, sponsorship and funding.

Covid-19 has had a huge impact on our event operations in 2020 and 2021. The Isaac Theatre Royal has averaged over 300 event days since 2015. In 2020 there was only 100 event days. The ITR experienced a 63% loss in revenue from Theatre Operations in 2020.

We rely on the events we host and the donations we raise. While we are confident of navigating the challenges that we are faced with, but we do need support. If you would like to support the theatre there are a number of ways you can do this. Indeed, when permitted to do so, you can hire the venue for your next function, business event, training session or AGM. You can donate directly via the website or become a member, a partner or a sponsor of the theatre.

With regards to our patrons and ticketholders. Thank you so much for your ongoing patience and support. For effected shows, please continue to look at the website for information on events including events that have been rescheduled.

We know this is a difficult time for our community and we extend our solidarity to all of those who are impacted, especially staff, contractors, artists, performers, clients, local retail and hospitality operators, accommodation and transport providers whose livelihood depends on a vibrant and fully functioning Arts industry.

We know that the arts play a critical role in uplifting and supporting our community and we’ll continue to explore ways to continue to bring the performing arts to Cantabrians during this time.

Kind Regards

Bob Mangan AVM, MBA

Chief Executive Officer – Isaac Theatre Royal

In the meantime stay safe!” – Brian Ritchie / Violent Femmes

Violent Femmes eponymous debut from 1983 was THE soundtrack for so many. It was – and still remains – a firm favourite and a very influential record with its rugged pop sensibility and themes of alienation, isolation, sexual frustration and angst.Violent Femmes have continued to release great albums, and for their return to New Zealand shores they come with a brand new album – their 10th – Hotel Last Resort, which resides among the band’s finest work, simultaneously refining and redefining their one-of-a-kind take on American music.
Don’t miss Violent Femmes – the legendary Gordon Gano, Brian Ritchie, Blaise Garza and John Sparrow – live around New Zealand in February 2022 performing classics from across their entire career.
