The 50s Up Brass Band, we believe, is unique in the world. We have around 40 mostly retired musicians with many of them being ex-Army and National band members who bring a wealth of experience to the band.
Our Musical Director is Alex Morton, a very respected member of the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra.
50s Up Brass has played many concerts featuring such artists as Dame Malvina Major, The Topp Twins, Suzanne Prentice, and other prominent local and national artists.
This year we feature the wonderful voice of Suzanne Prentice. The magical Southern Cross Irish Dance troupe and McAlpines Pipe Band are being moulded together in the expert hands of personality, Paul Van Uden.
The concert, alongside bringing wonderful music to your ears, will be raising money for the Christchurch Charity Hospital, and the wonderful work they do providing FREE medical, surgical, and dental services to the people of Canterbury and the West Coast.
