Made in Canterbury 2022 Cancelled

The Isaac Theatre Royal would like to announce the cancellation of this years’ Made In Canterbury 2022 festival.

A festival which has grown and would have featured 24 performances over 4 days, following a successful first year in 2021 will be back bigger and better in 2023. This is Canterbury’s Fringe Festival, which has already garnered a huge amount of support and interest.

We would have loved to have brought you an amazing festival of great artistic talent in Canterbury, with a wide range of brilliant local performers, supported by local businesses, Tūrangā, Christchurch City Council and The Piano’. Indeed, we have made the tough decision to cancel this much loved event for our community, due to the restrictions and uncertainty in the current environment.

This years’ line up was very exciting and we wished we could have brought that to you. That said, we look forward to building on that excitement in 2023.

Our thoughts go out to all the artists, performers, musicians, crews, industry practitioners and patrons, who were looking forward to performing or working at the festival. Indeed, we are looking forward to when the arts industry is able to perform at, or close to, normal levels again.

To our community – stay safe in these challenging times.

All ticket holders will be automatically refinded.

Kia kaha,

The ITR Team.

After the success of the inaugural Made in Canterbury in 2021, the festival is back for 2022!

It’s a weekend celebrating local Christchurch creatives and showcasing all genres of performing arts in Canterbury. Last year’s festival took place solely within the Isaac Theatre Royal, but we are now delighted to also be introducing Tūranga, Christchurch’s Central Library, and The Piano – Christchurch City’s Music and Performance Centre into the festival landscape.

Made in Canterbury aims to provide a springboard for artists to gain the guidance, exposure and confidence to develop their work and tell their stories. There will be something for everyone. A mix of what we know and love and performances that are bold and new. Made in Canterbury is a bold new way of engaging with the wider Canterbury community.

We are thrilled to finally be sharing this amazing lineup of Christchurch creatives over three jam-packed days here at the Isaac Theatre Royal, Tūranga and The Piano 🙌 From Musicians to Magicians, Dancing, Acting and even a Circus Party! Made in Canterbury 2022 has a wide variety of high-quality entertainment ready for you to watch and enjoy 😎

Tickets are on sale from 10am, Thursday 9th December!
We can’t wait to see you here for what will be an amazing three days in March 2022.
