This FREE two day workshop offers theatre training for young people aged 14-25 years. Suitable for all levels of experience, it’s led by professional teaching artists from the Massive teaching team. You will learn a wide range of theatre foundation skills and techniques, and explore different ways of making theatre pieces using your own ideas and stories. The workshop runs from 10am to 4pm each day.

TEACHING ARTISTS: Tane Te Pakeke-Patterson & Jake Tupu
Tane Te Pakeke-Patterson (Ngāi Tahu, Ngāti Hateatea) is a director and performer from Ōtautahi. He graduated from Unitec in 2022 with a Bachelor of Performing and Screen Arts majoring in Acting. Tane joined Massive at the end of 2022 and performed in the emerging artists’ production ‘Heart Go… BOOM!’ (2023). He recently directed his first play ‘Oi Fred!’ (2023).
Jake Tupu is a Samoan actor, teaching artist and director who received all his foundational theatre training through Massive Theatre Company. He is interested in exploring new ways of working and new styles of devising processes when story telling. Jake is committed to trusting in the process even when the outcome is unclear, having an extreme passion for physicality on stage and what Massive calls ‘The Game’ – the play between the actors and the audience.
