PICK’n’MIX Drama Workshops
We are excited to be working with Canvas Bag Drama School to offer a second week of workshops across the school holidays, this time with a slight twist!
Choose 1 day, 2 day or 3 days as described below – it’s up to you! Each day is a different theme, and there will be no end of workshop performance, just a lot of fun and hopefully some new friends made!
We have three age groups available each day: 7 – 9 years; 10 – 12 years; 13 – 17 years.
DAY 1 – Explore Absurdism – The sort of theatre where things get a little… weird. Perhaps the rules of the world in your performance are completely different to reality. Maybe it’s simply normal to wake up as a massive insect. But ultimately, with all your strange behaviour and confusing reactions, you must be prepared to make your point!
DAY 2 – Explore Melodrama – Practice your evil laughs, and get your fake moustaches twirling with Melodrama; the sort of theatre focused on EXAGGERATION! Learn about archetypes, storytelling, and BIG EMOTIONS as you perform in a timeless and popular style of drama.
DAY 3 – Explore Classical – Friends, Romans, countryfolk; lend me your ears as you learn about all things Classical! From ancient Greek theatre to slightly less ancient Shakespearian, learn about foundational and fun techniques that all good performers absolutely must know! No Deus ex Machina will save you, should you refuse to heed the call…
Across these drama workshops, participants will learn about the most important techniques and aspects which make up that particular field of theatre. Each workshop is independent of the others; if you want to just learn about Melodrama, then only turn up on that day But, for a good exposure to acting and theatre as a whole, we would of course recommend going to all three!
Each day will run from 9am – 3pm (arrival from 8.30am).
Cost: $87.50 incl. gst per day, or book all 3 days for $250.00 incl. gst
Wear: Comfortable clothing
Lunch: Please provide lunch and snacks
