From Broadway to La Scala

Five extraordinary artists accompanied by New Zealand’s finest orchestras join forces to perform a selection of some of the greatest musical theatre and opera titles of all time.
Renowned for their charisma, stagecraft and musical versatility, bass baritone Teddy Tahu Rhodes joins film, TV and musical theatre star Jennifer Ward Lealand and national living treasure Dame Malvina Major.
Joining them is renowned Australian tenor David Hobson (Baz Luhrman’s La Boheme) and the breathtaking soprano Greta Bradman who is about to release her first recording on the Decca Classics label with the English Chamber Orchestra conducted by Richard Bonynge.
From the musical theatre genre you will hear timeless classics including South Pacific’s ‘Some Enchanted Evening’, ‘Someone to Watch Over Me’ from Crazy for You, ‘Music of the Night’ from The Phantom of the Opera and ‘Never Walk Alone’ from Carousel.
And for those passionate about opera, there’s the famous ‘Toreador’, the Pearl Fishers duet, the Drinking song (‘Brindisi’) from La Traviata, Bellini’s ‘Casta Diva’ and popular works by Mozart and Rossini.
Soaring with the exuberance of the great stage musicals and enriched with the passion of grand opera, FROM BROADWAY TO LA SCALA promises to be an unforgettable night of incredible music.
