Alder Productions, The Press, The Breeze, Solid Gold FM, Millennium Hotel, and Isaac Theatre Royal present “Shirley Valentine – The Play”  in support of the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.

Shirley Valentine is a timeless work, set in 1980’s Liverpool, England. It is the story of an ordinary housewife who, on a journey of rediscovery, finds herself a new life. Shirley Valentine-Bradshaw has always been able to see the funny side of any situation. She was a high school rebel but is now a housewife and mother who one day looks back at her life and realises that she has lost touch with her dreams. When her best friend wins a magazine contest and asks Shirley to accompany her on a two-week vacation in Greece, Shirley begins a journey of self discovery. BAFTA Award winning Pauline Collins starred in both the movie and the stage play which opened in 1988 at London's Vaudeville Theatre, directed by Simon Callow and produced by Bob Swash. The play won numerous awards including Best Comedy for writer Willy Russell and Best Actress for Pauline.

This hilarious production stars Nancy Schroder of Shortland Street and Hercules fame as the highly funny, ever insightful, Shirley Valentine.
