These September school holidays, we’re thrilled to be bringing in Singing Stars to lead an exciting musical theatre experience at the Isaac Theatre Royal. Led by talented local tutors, the workshops offer a fun, supportive space where students can build confidence, grow their skills, and let their creativity shine.
With a strong Musical Theatre focus, each day brings a new song, a new routine and a new scene, and by Day 3 it all comes together for a live showcase in our Gloucester Room, in front of family and friends. No experience needed for the Junior Ensemble - just enthusiasm. Our Senior Ensemble goes further, working on harmonies and more complex choreography for performers who already have a bit of stage time under their belt.
Most workshops happen in a classroom. This one happens in a heritage theatre - giving your child a genuine taste of what it's like to train, rehearse and perform in a professional venue, right through to a real technical rehearsal and dress run before their showcase.
Spaces are limited to keep ensembles small and tutor attention high. Secure your spot today.
Workshop Details
-
Small group sizes, three experienced tutors in the room at all times, and a genuinely welcoming environment - this is a great first taste of theatre for kids who love to sing and dance around the lounge but have never performed for an audience before.
-
This isn't a craft-and-colour holiday programme. Senior Ensemble participants work on part-singing and harmonies, pick up choreography at a professional pace, and rehearse a full technical run before performing - genuinely useful groundwork for anyone considering musical theatre, drama school or NCEA performing arts.
-
-
Audition & quick-learn technique - picking up choreography and lyrics fast, just like a professional cast.
-
Advanced musicality for Seniors - part-singing, harmonies and holding a vocal line against counter-melodies.
-
Stagecraft - stage directions, projection and connecting with a live audience.
-
Ensemble ethos - accountability, spatial awareness, and supporting fellow performers across age groups.
-
