Safety and Security

To help make every visit to the Isaac Theatre Royal safe, welcoming, and enjoyable, we ask all patrons to follow our conditions of entry.

For a smooth arrival and a wonderful experience, please have your ticket ready, bring valid ID if you plan to purchase alcohol, and only carry a small bag if needed to help with security checks. We kindly ask that large bags, commercial food, drink bottles or containers, and professional photography equipment are left at home.

Conditions of Entry

While we do our best to keep you updated, please be aware that promoters and event operators may need to adjust these conditions at short notice, or without notice, for safety and security reasons.

  • A patron who exhibits unacceptable or disruptive behaviour towards staff or other patrons will be asked to leave the venue.

    Dangerous activities such as aggressive moshing, stage diving, crowd surfing and climbing are not permitted and may result in the removal of patrons from the event.

  • You and/or your possessions may be subject to a security search upon entry, including being subject to a pat down and/or wanding search before entering the venue. If you refuse to present any of the requested items for searching, you may be denied entry.

    • Alcohol or illegal substances.
    • Bottles or drink containers of any size (excl. baby bottles).
    • Flasks / Thermos.
    • Commercial food e.g. fish and chips
    • Animals (except guide or hearing dogs).
    • Offensive signs or banners.
    • Flares / Fireworks / Laser Lights.
    • Dangerous Goods / Weapons / Anything that looks like a weapon.
    • Any commercial recording devices including video cameras, GoPros, iPads, tablets and DSLR/SLR cameras with detachable lenses.
    • Large personal effects (coats, bags) that cannot be stored under your seat.
    • Glass of any kind.
    • Chewing gum.
    • Any other items deemed by venue management or the promoter to be illegal, dangerous, or a nuisance to yourself or others.
    • The Liquor Licensing Authority prohibits the serving of alcohol to intoxicated or under-aged persons. Anyone supplying alcohol to underage patrons will be escorted from the venue.
    • There will be zero tolerance for intoxication. Anyone who arrives at the venue intoxicated or under the influence of illicit substances will be refused entry into the event, and patrons who become intoxicated will be asked to leave the venue.
    • Illicit drugs and alcohol are prohibited from being brought into the venue and if found will be confiscated, and the patron(s) refused entry and/or escorted from the venue.
    • Incidents involving alcohol or drugs will be referred to the NZ Police where the situation requires it.
    • Smoking, vaping and the use of e-cigarettes are prohibited.

  • This depends entirely on the show. There is no formal dress code at Isaac Theatre Royal, so wear whatever you feel comfortable in.

    However, lots of people enjoy the chance to dress up and enjoy a night out. A theatre packed with 700+ people can get a little warm, so wearing layers is always a good idea so you don’t overheat.
